Rock Pools and Misty Rain

Last week we went to explore the rock pools at Plimmerton beach.  We wanted to compare the plant and animal communities there with the ones we had seen at Island Bay in May.  What's different about these two locations?  Well the Island Bay rock pools are part of a marine reserve.  This means that people are not allowed to remove anytinng from the beach.  So we expected to find fewer plants and animals in the Plimmerton rock pools.
We had fun climbing around the rocks and keeping out of the sea spray from the waves.  We identified, classified and counted all the organisms we found.  Back at school we had interesting conversations about all we had seen.
